DESCRIPTION:Welcome to an open lecture with Andrea Pinto and Cristhian Cardona Giraldo\, Coordinators from locally based organization Serraniagua\, Columbia!\nAndrea Pinto and Cristhian Cardona Giraldo\, coordinators at colombian environmental organization Serraniagua\, a locally based organization that strives to preserve biodiversity and promote agro-ecological production. They will elaborate and discuss Serraniaguas important work in the region and the importance of tackling both climate change and biodiversity loss as well as territorial management and the challenges that they face in the region.  \nAndrea and Christhian are visiting Uppsala as guests of Future Earth (Framatidsjorden). Andrea is particularly passionate about strengthening the autonomous territorial administration. She also works with sustainable rural tourism.\n\n\nCristhian Cardona Giraldo\nCoordinator of Serraniagua’s work on community conservation initiatives and wildlife monitoring group. Psychologist and community facilitator for issues concerning protected areas\, natural resources and territorial environmental planning and governance. Cristhian works to promote participation of local communities in the political decisionmaking associated with environmental management.\n\nAbout Serraniagua\nSerraniagua is a locally based organization for associations with small-scale farmers who work with agroecology\, farmers who own nature reserves\, associations for ecotourism and jointly owned radio channels. They strive to preserve biodiversity and promote agro-ecological production. Serraniagua operates in the Tatamá National Park and the Serranía de los Paraguas area in southwestern Colombia\, areas that have a rich biodiversity which are considered one of the world’s “hotspots” of biodiversity.

This approach entails an intentionality to intervene in the debate and actual modus operandi of university research and education. Men den lyfter också det Amazonas som inte bara präglas av biologisk mångfald\, utan också av en enorm kulturell rikedom och språklig mångfald. Denna mångfald hotas dock av både nationella och internationella intressen. Many institutions that offer courses in sustainable development have a disciplinary basis in either the area of environment or the area of development studies\, and it can then easily happen that the courses get a bias towards one of these areas. The strength of Cemus is that the focus—and the curiosity—is almost always directed towards the interface and integration of environment and development. Cemus’ course titles testify to this—often unconventional titles that cross boundaries\, and are not constrained by what is usually offered by conventional disciplines. She is also guest researcher at Luleå University of Technology\, Unit of history.  Öhman was affiliated to the Centre for Gender Research\, Uppsala university\, December 2008 through December 2018 financed solely through successful research projects.  \nIn 2013 Öhman set up a Feminist “Technoscience research group”\, with specific focus on Indigenous/Sámi perspectives and methodologies. The research group does supradisciplinary collaborations academia-ex-academia\, involving scholars\, activists\, artists\, film makers\, reindeer herders.  Collaboration includes scholars/Indigenous scholars/ activists/artists from Sápmi\, Scandinavia\, Greenland\, Japan\, New Zealand\, Australia\, India\, Chile\, Morocco\, Peru\, Chile\, the US and Canada. Her specific focus is on large scale technical systems\, hydropower\, energy production/consumption\, water resources\, environmental issues\, decolonization and healing from traumas of colonization – mainly focusing on Sábme/Sápmi\, land of the Sámi and also comparative studies and exchanges; human security; dam safety; water security. I’m a researcher in archaeology at the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History\, Uppsala University. My main research interests include history and heritage in Northern Fennoscandia and northern Russia\, Sámi history and archaeology\, Russian and Soviet archaeology\, histories of archaeology\, as well as issues of heritage\, identity\, nationalism\, indigeneity\, colonialism\, politics\, cultural rights and ethics. \nI’m currently working with the research project Bronze Age Landscapes in the North: Contacts between Central Sweden and Northern Sweden during the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age (2019–2021)\, together with Karin Ojala. The aim of the project is to examine the relationship between Mälardalen and the northern Swedish coastal regions during the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age. A special focus will be on “eastern” objects which have been discovered in central and northern Sweden. Central to the study are questions about regional differences\, regional identities and interregional contacts. Another aim is to critically examine the division between North and South in the study of the Bronze Age\, as well as other prehistoric periods. Therefore\, an important question will be how the images of contacts between the northern Swedish coast and Mälardalen have developed in a research historical perspective. \nIn recent years\, I have worked in two research projects\, together with Jonas M. Nordin from the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm and other researchers\, focusing on the early modern colonial history in Sápmi\, and its legacies today. The first project Collecting Sápmi: Early Modern Globalization of Sámi Material Culture and Sámi Cultural Heritage Today (2014–2018) aims to examine early modern interest in and collecting of Sámi material culture and to follow the movement of Sámi objects between scholars and collectors around Europe. The aim is also to discuss the legacies of the early modern collecting and the importance of the collected objects today\, including repatriation and revitalization processes. The second project A Colonial Arena: Landscape\, People and Globalization in Inland Northern Sweden in the Early Modern Period (2014–2017) deals with industrialization\, mining and missionary campaigns in the Sámi areas in northern Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries\, and colonial history and heritage in Sápmi today. Men den lyfter också det Amazonas som inte bara präglas av biologisk mångfald\, utan också av en enorm kulturell rikedom och språklig mångfald. Denna mångfald hotas dock av både nationella och internationella intressen. Föreläsningarna är kostnadsfria och öppna för alla – online och på Stadsbiblioteket om omständigheterna tillåter. Välkommen att diskutera framtidens frågor med dagens forskare!\nFramtidsakademin är en tvärvetenskaplig föreläsningsserie som behandlar forskning kring framtidsrelevanta frågor inom ramen för hållbar utveckling. Syftet med samarbetet är att sprida aktuell forskning till en intresserade allmänhet\, studenter och andra samhällsaktörer. Projektet har pågått sedan 2004 och är ett samarbete mellan CEMUS\, Folkuniversitetet i Uppsala och Uppsala Stadsbibliotek. \nFöreläsningarna är gratis och öppna för allmänheten och de hålls tre gånger per termin\, och nu i vår med ny tid kl. 18.15-19.30 online och i Mallas sal på Stadsbiblioteket\, Svartbäcksgatan 17\, om omständigheterna tillåter det. Vi bjuder in såväl forskare från Uppsala och andra delar av landet\, som experter\, journalister\, författare och politiker att komma och berätta om sitt arbete under ett för terminen gemensamt tema. \nVarmt välkomna att diskutera framtidens frågor med dagens forskare! \n  \n\nProgram våren 2022 – tema Skogen\nVårens tre föreläsningar tar dig med på en lång\, farofylld och vacker resa genom skogen som idé\, relation och verklighet. Först reser vi igenom skogen i litteraturen tillsammans med Torsten Pettersson\, författare och professor i litteraturvetenskap\, där skogen som hot\, tröst\, uppenbarelse erfars i berättande och lyrik. Sen guidar professor emeritus Lars Rydén oss genom den hett debatterade och kalhuggna Svenska skogen och dess påverkan på klimat och biologisk mångfald\, med möjliga alternativ till dagens skogsbruk. Den kan då representera en hotfull omgivande värld\, men även tröst i naturen och till och med en möjlighet att förnimma en värld bortom vår egen. Om hotet mot skogen\, klimatet och den biologiska rikedomen\nSverige har mycket skog\, mest i EU. Hur vi sköter vår skog spelar stor roll\, särskilt för klimat\, biologisk mångfald\, och vår egen välfärd. Samtidigt hotas skogen av just detta: klimatförändring\, biologisk utarmning och missriktat skogsbruk. Skogen diskuteras intensivt och åsikterna är många och olika. More details coming.\nWhen: March 28 kl. 18.15-20.00 \nWhere: University Main Building (room to be announced) \n\nPär Holmgren är meteorolog\, klimatexpert och sedan 2019 Europaparlamentariker för Miljöpartiet de Gröna. I parlamentet sitter han som ledamot i utskottet för miljö\, folkhälsa och livsmedelssäkerhet\, och även som ersättare i utskottet för jordbruk och landsbygdens utveckling samt utskottet för transport. \nPär är utbildad officer och har tidigare tjänstgjort som meteorolog på Sveriges Television\, har ett långt engagemang i klimatfrågor och har bland annat utsetts till Årets Miljöhjälte av WWF och tilldelats titeln Hedersdoktor vid Uppsala Universitet. \nRead more: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/197398/PAR_HOLMGREN/home
