How can we deeply transform ourselves and our societies\, for a more sustainable\, emancipated and just world? \nWhile the climate crisis has been mainly discussed as a scientific problem requiring technological and scientific solutions\, this exhibition highlights the need to question and deeply transform the current systems of domination\, exploitation\, and colonialism. Worldwide\, women and girls are disproportionately impacted by climate change and environmental issues and are often excluded from decision-making processes. LGBTQ+ voices are often left out of climate discussions. \nThis exhibition explores concepts and movements arising from ecofeminism that spell out how climate change\, women and minorities oppression\, and non-human nature domination are intrinsically related issues\, all tied to the dominant paradigm of patriarchal capitalism. We invite you to wander into the alternative perspectives and worldviews that point to the importance of a gender-sensitive\, intersectional\, and transformative approach to climate action. The exhibition sheds light on women and minorities as figures of resistance and agents of change that have risen worldwide against patriarchal\, extractive\, colonialist\, and ecocidal projects. \nHow can we imagine and build resistance\, practices and ways of life to confront the current system of oppression and invent and act for an alternative paradigm? \nWith the contribution of artists\, activists\, and researchers\, we invite you to put on your ecofeminist and intersectional glasses and explore different themes such as gender norms and climate change\, colonialism\, climate justice\, dualism\, interconnectedness\, and spirituality. With a diverse range of means – paintings\, embroideries\, videos\, performances\, interactive installation – this exhibition invites us to rethink our relationships with the environment\, among\, and within ourselves. By connecting your brain\, your heart\, and your hands\, we hope you can start exploring new narratives and imagining a world freed from ecological destruction and patriarchy\, in which harmony\, happiness\, and justice can thrive. \nEveryone is welcome\, no matter how much you already know about the topic.\nThere will be events during the 3 days of the exhibition. Stay tuned for more information!

SUMMARY:June 3: Playback Theatre Workshop followed by a live performance
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a Playback Theatre Workshop followed by a live performance at Kulturhuset Leoparden!\nEver heard of Playback Theatre (PBT)? It’s improv theatre where the actors on stage play back real-life stories told by the audience. It’s totally improvised and created in the moment\, but there are specific forms used when playing back the stories. PBT originated in the 70’s from other disciplines such as improv theatre\, psychodrama and the work of Paulo Freires and is sometimes referred to as “urban campfires”. There are PBT groups all over the world\, and in Stockholm there is a small but thriving community of playbackers. \n\nAbout the Playback Theatre Workshop \nWhere: Galleri Leoparden \nWhen: Saturday 03 June\, 14:00-15:45 \nRegistration is required here: https://forms.gle/95wHfuhpNUnzkNFt7 (max 6 participants) \nWhether you are a skilled improv theatre enthusiast or just secretly dreaming of trying improv theatre you are warmly welcome to join a short and playful PBT workshop! During the workshop you will be guided into the improv mindset and taught some basic forms of PBT\, in a playful and safe environment. It will be held in English. (If you’re a musician you’re very welcome to bring your instrument as well) \nWe’ll be a small group of maximum six participants. The workshop is 1h45 and then you will be trying your wings instantly in a one-hour performance with an audience of around 20 people. This takes some guts\, yes\, but the audience will be well-informed about the “freshness” of the actors\, and everything will be focused on creating a warm\, safe and non-judgemental space for listening and trying out the new PBT skills. It actually takes some courage for the audience to share their stories as well\, so we’re all in the same boat :) \n\nAbout the Playback Theater performance: \nWhere: Galleri Leoparden \nWhen: Saturday 03 June\, 15:30-17:00 (free fika at 15:30 and performance from 16:00) \nAfter only 100 minutes of preparation\, the participants of the workshop will be performing! The performance will be based on the real-life stories from the audience\, who in turn will be inspired by the theme and the art on display. \nTo complete the workshop and to support the participants trying out their wings instantly\, we are inviting you to a one-hour performance (held in English) with an audience of maximum 20 people. This takes some guts from the actors\, yes\, and we expect the audience to support and celebrate their courage. We will be focusing on creating a warm\, safe and non-judgemental space for both actors and the audience. After all\, sharing real-life stories in front of strangers also takes some courage! (No-one is forced to share anything of course) \n\nAbout the workshop leader/performance conductor Jens Malmström: Jens has been a member of https://www.facebook.com/spektroplayback in Stockholm for six years. For around fifteen years he’s been working with social issues around gender\, social exclusion\, disabilities and climate justice\, lately as part of Starfish Collective that aim to highlight the interconnection between masculinities and the climate crisis (and solution!).. He’s also one of few active climate coaches in Sweden. \nThe performance will be held as part of the three-day event “REclaim\, REconnect\, REinvent” (https://www.facebook.com/events/543773704530022/) and the stories from the audience will be influenced by the theme and the art on display there.

SUMMARY:June 4: Justified Rage: A movement exploration workshop
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a movement workshop exploring anger and rage led by Emelia Koberg!\nWhen: June 4\, 15:00-17:00\nWhere: Galleri Leoparden \nPractical information \n\nThere is a maximum of 20 participants. Sign-up is required here: https://forms.gle/THmRXooAqymqbnrw8\nTo support and show appreciation for the work of the artist\, we ask for a participation fee when signing-up. Depending on your means\, we suggest contributions from 50 to 200 SEK. \nThe workshop will last 2 hours. The space will be open until 18:00 for hanging out and discussing with Emelia.\nComfortable movement clothing is recommended. Bring a personal notebook if desired.\n\n\nAbout the workshop\nIf you’re angry\, do you know it? How do you know it? Where do you know it? When is rage justified? How can we invite rage and anger to be our teachers\, to move us and to connect us? \nIn this workshop/lab I would like to explore rage as a source of connection to the earth\, source of direction and collective practice. I am inspired by the Queer Black Troublemaker Alexis Pauline Gumbs who in tribute to poet June Jordan\, invites us to \nlet ourselves explore the depth and complexity of our rage\, the connection between our rage and our love and the commitment and clarity our loving rage is teaching us.\nAs a dance artist\, my movement is my poetry and my poetry emerges from movement. I invite us to create a space for acknowledging our own rage and pay homage to mothers and sisters and teachers who have been vilified for their rage. Anger is a primary emotion connected to the amygdala\, the fight or flight response and unavoidable part of the human experience. At the same time it is also often repressed\, shamed and not given space to be expressed and evolve. Power and oppression play into who is allowed to be angry and for what reasons. Drawing on the artists of this exhibit and around the world who are highlighting the connections between the patriarchal-capitalist-neocolonialist system and climate change\, this workshop is a place to physically engage with\, embody and affirm our rage. \nWe will bring attention to our connection to the earth\, the bones and connective tissue of the earth\, to ‘terra firma’\, solid ground\, the place we move from and that allows our transformation (both historically as a species and in a concrete everyday sense). From there\, we will play with the possibilities of stomping\, clenching\, yelling/repeating “no” and giving time to witness anger/rage and how it might transform or offer knowledge. \nWith curiosity\, care and intention we will explore the physicality\, sensations and layers of anger/rage. No previous dance experience is required and there will also be space given for reflection through writing and/or drawing. \nAbout Emelia Koberg\nEmelia Koberg is a Swedish-Canadian dance and performance artist and movement teacher with a background in gender\, sexuality\, environmental justice and education. Emelia facilitates classes and workshops in contact improvisation\, improvisation\, Acroyoga and yoga. They are interested in the different ways of guiding people to play\, connect\, listen and find embodied ways to evolve. Emelia collaborates with artists of diverse backgrounds including Julián Benavides\, Mariana de Oliveira Costa\, Felicia Konrad\, Tuva Hildebrand\, Tadhi Alawi\, Khamlane Halsackda and Graham Adey. Emelia has an Education in Dance and Somatics from the Eastern Finland Sports Institute in Joensuu (2018-2019). \nThey have completed several courses focusing on queer\, feminist and political perspectives of dance and performing arts at the Stockholm University of the Arts (2020-2021). Emelia also has a degree in International Development and Globalization with a focus on gender and environmental studies from the University of Ottawa (2007-2011). Before entering the dance and performance field\, Emelia worked with consent and sexuality education\, reproductive and sexual health rights and issues around mining and environmental-social justice. \nThis event is part of the exhibition REclaim\, REconnect\, REinvent\, on the intersection of gender and climate change.
