Program

About the conference
The conference brings together students and faculty from ENLIGHT universities, and local organizations, for two days of engaging dialogues and critical conversations. Together we will explore ways to integrate and build upon the Inner Development Goals, IDGs, and how they relate to our academic, professional, and personal lives, and how they can contribute to meaningful change in society. The conference aligns with the ENLIGHT network’s mission of promoting collaboration and innovation across partner universities to address sustainability and other related issues.

The program will include keynote talks connects the IDGs to a broader context, opens up new questions and perspectives, as well as more practical workshops and seminars where we can work together on more in-depth aspects of these issues. Workshops and seminars will be held at the University of Groningen Campus and different outdoor, green spaces in Groningen.

Questions to be explored:

  • How can a IDGs approach support the transition towards a sustainable society, taking into to account planetary boundaries, carbon budgets and similar limits to the Earth system?
  • How can the IDGs help us in building thriving and inclusive communities?
  • How do we live with loss, grief, anger in a world that is being destroyed around us?

The Inner Development Goals
The Inner Development Goals framework simplifies human development to help identify, understand, communicate, develop, and integrate the inner skills needed for sustainable development. It addresses the blind spot in efforts to create a sustainable global society, where technical solutions and public policy are insufficient on their own.

Co-created by over 1000 experts, the IDG Framework consists of 5 dimensions with 23 skills of human inner growth and development. These dimensions are Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating, and Acting, unified as a catalyst for global change. The framework is designed to be a global language to help people understand inner development and its importance for outer change.
