Uppsala Sustainability Festival ‘Film och Framtid (Film and the Future)’ film festival – May 2017

Check out the short documentary film from the Uppsala Sustainability Festival that wrapped up the Spring semester and celebrated sustainability! The Uppsala Sustainability Festival is a biannual event run by CEMUS that aims to gather actors, projects and initiatives that work for sustainability in various ways. Through art, music, movies and much more, the goal is to showcase diverse ways to strive for sustainability and give inspirations for actions. We hope to create a meeting place for different actors and academia where new ideas can grow and together make the world a better place. Read more on the website!

CEMUS Alumni Event – March 2017

Each year we have an alumni event at CEMUS. This year we had a Panel Discussion with with three alumni working with sustainable development in different ways – development in grassroots civil society and international policy level, sustainability communication consultancy who was formerly a politician, and a wind power generation company. The theme was around ‘Working with Sustainability’ and ‘Reflecting on education and experience at CEMUS’. The crowd was a mix of current and former students and staff.

Matariki Global Citizenship Workshop – April 2016 in Uppsala

What is global citizenship? What does global citizenship require of us, and our universities?

Students and faculty from six universities – Dartmouth College (USA), Durham University (UK), University of Otago (New Zealand), Queens University (Canada), University of Tübingen (Germany), and Uppsala University (Sweden) – came together in Uppsala in April 2016, for the 1st international workshop to develop the new Global Citizenship Program in the Matariki Network of Universities. CEMUS had the privilege to host and organize this workshop which used creative and interactive methods to engage both students and faculty, explored critical understandings of global citizenship, and was the first step in forming the content of the Matariki Global Citizenship Program, and its next steps. Trailer for Climate Change Leadership MOOC at Uppsala University

CEMUS ran one of the first MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) in Climate Change Leadership. Climate change creates a situation of unprecedented urgency, complexity and uncertainty, but also opens up new opportunities for innovation and leadership. In this free online course, students get a view of the leadership challenges associated with climate change, as well as the new arenas that are opening up for climate action.
