November 30th: Zara Howard on Swedish Aid

Warmly welcome to an Open lecture and discussion with Zara Howard!

Date: November 30th
Time: 5-7pm
Location: Norrland I, Geocentrum

Zara did an internship at SIDA’s department for economics last term and worked with their statistical group. She also recently came back from a field study in Malawi where she studied how informal workers, in this case street vendors, could improve their lives by joining and creating trade unions.

She will talk generally about Swedish Aid and what it actually goes towards. On top of this there will be plenty of room for discussion. Questions like “What is poverty?”, “Is economic growth more important than sustainability?”, “Is aid an efficient way of reducing poverty?” for example, will be explored.

Zara now works with the Swedish Migration Office as an asylum case officer.
