Now accepting Expressions of Interest for the Zennström Visiting Professorship in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University – 2016 and beyond
Deadline for submission: September 28, 2015
With a 10-year series of visiting professorships (2015-2024) in climate change leadership, Uppsala University will actively engage with the most challenging questions that climate change poses to humanity. With funding from Zennström Philanthropies and hosted by the Uppsala Centre for Sustainable Development, this unique and transdisciplinary initiative will catalyze critical research, education and collaboration at the nexus of science, policy, and innovation, making a substantive contribution to the global effort to address climate change.
Climate Change Leadership is a new and emerging transdisciplinary field of inquiry, addressing critical questions at the core of the challenges facing humanity and the planet in the 21st century. The latest science provides compelling evidence that unprecedented institutional, cultural and socio-technological transformations are required to address the global challenges that underpin climate change. In so doing, innovative and bold approaches to climate change leadership are required across all sectors of society, from the local to the international level.
The initiative emerged from the learning and involvement of an international network of researchers and practitioners in an interdisciplinary student-led course in Uppsala: Climate Change Leadership – Power, Politics and Culture. The series of professorships has been enabled by a generous donation from Zennström Philantrophies and was inaugurated in the spring of 2015 with the installation of Doreen Stabinsky, Professor in Global Environmental Politics and the first Zennström Visiting Professor in Climate Change Leadership 2015 – 2016 (spring term).
As a Zennström Visiting Professor you will interact with a growing network of researchers, educators, students and practitioners, thereby contributing to the development of the field of Climate Change Leadership that builds on, expands and complements the work initiated by Professor Stabinsky. The visiting professorship is to be held for 1 year, with the possibility of extension into a 2nd year. This call is seeking candidates able to begin the professorship during 2016 or later. We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your expressions of interest for becoming the Zennström Visiting Professor in 2016 or beyond!
